Introducing Dr. Brett Jones

I was told I would just have to continue to take codeine and use ice packs to get relief from my headaches.
I was a passenger in car accident and immediately felt a terrible headache come on. After many trips to the medical doctor and examinations at the hospital I was told to continue using ice packs and codeine to get relief. I met a chiropractor who said he may be able to help. At that time I didn't know what chiropractic was but I was willing to try because nothing else was helping very much. It wasn't long after my first visit to the chiropractor that I started to feel a lot better and I soon found that the headaches were pretty much gone. I wanted to help other people with experiences like mine and enrolled in chiropractic college.
I had transferred to the University of Calgary after attending Red Deer College where my interest had been geology. I was making plans to finish a degree in geology. The experience I had with chiropractic changed my plans and I entered Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. I was amazed by the passion my professors had for teaching the foundational principles of chiropractic and the wonderful healing ability that lies within each of our bodies.
We honor the patient and encourage them to become involved in their care by asking questions, to understand why they are getting better. We teach people about the foundational principles of health and allow them to decide at what level they want to participate. We respect the patient's desires whether they want relief, corrective or wellness care. It is a very satisfying to have a patient tell me that they finally feel good and they can enjoy life and handle their life situations again.
Dr. Haitsma is married to Veronica and in 2005 celebrated their 28th anniversary. They have two children; a daughter Shaeffer (currently attending university in Toronto) and son JD and daughter in law Crystal (both attending university in Lethbridge) A wonderful dog "Wally" greets them enthusiastically each day and loves to play catch with a tennis ball. Dr. Haitsma and Veronica like to travel on their Harley Davidson motorcycle and take advantage of any opportunity they have to go skiing. They are both actively involved in Lacombe area church work.
The Haitsma family receives chiropractic care regularly. Dr. Haitsma exercises by walking, riding a stationary bike and doing a dynamic workout with a gymball and light weights. He believes that we all must eat better, think better and move better.
